I saw the white K.A. H.D.475 watt Pro kit at Costco today for $300.

That's the one I ordered from Costco. I am not a member but my son is so he gave me his account number so I could order it. It was $299 minus a $20 discount right at checkout. Then there is a $30 mail in rebate too. Seems to me that this was a great deal....what do you think?

Just found out today that the model I ordered is made, exclusively, for Costco & Sam's Club, by Kitchen Aid. I found that to be interesting. Delivery is supposed to be on Tuesday so I will let you all know how it is when I receive it.

Hi Madge
No I haven't tried it yet. Am hoping to play with it today. Not sure what I want to try first.

Pressed the button. That last batch of chiabatta was excellant but a pain to mix.

Brand new KV25GOXMC 5 PLus, 5 qt stand mixer is now on the way! All it cost me was a Coach purse(plus the price of the mixer.)Posted Image

I was reading the manual and it says it will knead most yeast bread mixes in 2 minutes????

Is this true?

Any tips from you guys would be helpful.

It will often MIX them in 2 minutes. Most recent bread recipes have a time recommended for hand kneading and another recommended time for mixer kneading. Like 10 minutes by hand, 6-8 minutes by mixer with dough hook.

Let me recommend that you get a plastic mixing attachment sometime in the near future. When you're dealing with batters, etc. It simplifies things immensely since you don't have to scrape down the sides of the bowl. Just make sure you get the right one for your mixer.

Hey Skip,

What exactly is the plastic attachment you are talking about? Is it one of the KA attachments?

Thanks,
Sheryl

Are you talking about the one that looks like it has little blue squeegies on the outside edge of the paddle mixer??

I wrote about this on another thread here at CK but can't find it. (Too many similar threads sometimes.)

Mine works great and speeds up making cookies, cakes, and anything tending toward batter consistency. Sugar, butter, egg blending is fantastic on it.

5 qt, at Amazon

I have one of those scraping paddles and I love it. As a matter of fact, I need to order a back up, just in case the one I have breaks.

This has to be some kind of record! I got the KA today and 3.5 minutes later it was loaded with chiabatta bread dough. I let it knead on speed 2 for about 5 minutes until the dough started to climb up the hook. It's on it's first rise.

I love this thing. Combined with my digital scale with tare function, I only used the one 5qt container for the whole thing(plus my stainless bowl for the rise.) Sweet!
