Questions:

1. Why do people climb mountains?

2. How come Columbus sailed west to India?

3. What can we do with leftover turkey or meatloaf?

Answers:

1. For the view.

2. Seeking riches. <_<

3. Make sandwiches using soft, store-bought bread.

Or, make your own!

Here's a recipe I developed from a bread machine recipe. One thing you'll notice right off is the large quantity of sugar! That's probably why kids like it?

Wonder-Type Bread

Ingredients:

2 packets active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water (110 degrees F)
2 tablespoons white sugar

7-8 cups all-purpose flour (the less, the better)
1/2 cup instant potato flakes
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup white sugar
4 tablespoons butter or margarine (soft)
2 cups warm water
4 teaspoons salt

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Grease Pans (Recipe makes 2 - 5x10 or 3 - 4x8 loaves)

Whisk together the yeast, 1/2 cup warm water and 2 tablespoons sugar. Allow mixture to sit for 15 minutes. (Very important. Decreases the "yeasty" flavor)

Add 3 cups of flour and all remaining ingredients except salt, including the yeast mixture. Mix well.

Add salt, then remaining flour as needed to make a soft, smooth dough. Knead for 6-8 minutes.

Shape loaves and place in pans. (I always make a 1/4" deep slice along the top for expansion.)

Bake about 30 minutes for 4x8 or 35 minutes for 5x9 loaves. Remove from pan to cooling rack when internal temperature reaches 185-190 degrees.

When it's still warm, make a PB&J Sandwich!

After it cools, try some great toast!

I will definitely be making this. I actually LIKE white bread, especially with leftover meatloaf  (which means that I also need to make some meatloaf!). Thank you!
