Those of you who have redone kitchens lately....anything you would change/add/do differently? The designer guy at the cottage sent his plans the other day and it looks great. However, anything would be an improvement. No more corner cupboards that are totally unaccessible. I wonder what I'll find back there when I clean them out!!
He does have one bank of small shallow drawers that he has fit in beside the fridge and a bigger cupboard. I am not sure what these could be used for.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

How I envy you and Marlene your new kitchens!!! But one thing you might do is take a couple of the more complicated dishes that you do for a dinner party menu and mentally take yourself through the steps in that new kitchen set-up. I would do this even to setting the table and relating to guests and clean up,.
Food, glorious food! / Hot sausage and mustard!
While we're in the mood -- / Cold jelly and custard!
Pease pudding and saveloy! / What next is the question?
Rich gentlemen have it, boys -- / In-di-gestion!

How shallow are those drawers? Could they be divided for utensil storage? If I had to do it over, the only thing I would change in my kitchen at the cottage, would be to put a full 27 inch oven into the island, but otherwise, both here and at home, I'm pretty happy with what was done.

The others are right though. Everyone cooks differently, so think about how you cook, what would go where in the new kitchen etc. Is it possible to scan and post the design? It's hard to comment without seeing it.

I certainly hope so!!! When we left last week all the kitchen contents were in the middle of the living room. Demolition was to be this week and hopefully when we go back it is well underway. The electrician called so he seems to be on deck. Kitchen guy is under threat of serious personal injury if it is not done by July 1.

Add a lot more plugs! My Sister has 24 places to plug stuff in in her kitchen all right near the counter tops.

Thanks for the advice Ron. When we had our 100 year old house in downtown Toronto we learned the lesson of "you can never have too many plugs" as it had a few inconveniently placed ones. So when we were picking the upgrades for our condo we added plugs everywhere. We have also done so for the cottage kitchen. It is a small (8x6) kitchen. WOW, 24 plugs, kitchen must be huge. Heaven!!!!
